Around the nation, international students are struggling with the expiration of their work permits and the uncertainty surrounding their future in Canada. “At start, there were CEC [Canadian Experience Class] drawings every two weeks, so students prepared for that,” says immigration expert Kanwar Sierah. They have enormous backlogs since they are unsure when the next drawings will take place.

Organizations such as the International Sikh Student Organization claim that wider policy failures have made the situation even more problematic.
