Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced its plans to invest $10 billion in Mississippi, marking the single largest capital investment in the state’s history. AWS will establish multiple data center complexes in two Madison County industrial parks. Which is projected to create at least 1,000 new jobs in the Magnolia State. The investments will also support new educational trainings in the state.
Since 2010, Amazon has invested $2.3 billion in Mississippi. These included five fulfillment and sortation centers, four delivery stations, five solar farms, a wind farm, and a Whole Foods Market location.
After Japan – AWS plans to invest $10 billion in Mississippi
The expansion of AWS in Mississippi comes after the company announced a more than $15 billion investment in Japan. Google has also recently announced its move to set up a data center just outside of London for $1 billion.
The IT industry has reached a major milestone with the news of AWS’s investment in Mississippi. And the state’s economy is anticipated to benefit. The investment will benefit the state’s growing IT industry. As it will generate new, well-paying jobs and increase the state’s GDP annually.
AWS investments in data centers

In addition, Amazon will assist Mississippi’s community colleges, universities, technical schools, and workforce development organizations in creating, developing, and expanding training programs. As well as opportunities for work-based learning that will equip job seekers for highly sought-after career paths in the expanding data center construction and operations as well as the broadband expansion sector.
